Footprints in the Sand
Footprints in the Sand, a beautiful poem!
,

One night I dreamed a dream.
As I was walking along the beach with my Lord.
Across the dark sky flashed scenes from my life.
For each scene, I noticed two sets of footprints in the sand,
One belonging to me and one to my Lord.
After the last scene of my life flashed before me,
I looked back at the footprints in the sand.
I noticed that at many times along the path of my life,
especially at the very lowest and saddest times,
there was only one set of footprints.
This really troubled me, so I asked the Lord about it.
"Lord, you said once I decided to follow you,
You'd walk with me all the way.
But I noticed that during the saddest and most troublesome times of my life,
there was only one set of footprints.
I don't understand why, when I needed You the most, You would leave me."
He whispered, "My precious child, I love you and will never leave you
Never, ever, during your trials and testings.
When you saw only one set of footprints,
It was then that I carried you."

I remember this poem from many years ago but couldn't remember the exact words. I only remembered the last lines of the poem.

My husband passed away last Sunday and this poem is what got me through this week I think I have gone over it in my mind over and over
This poem has touched and continues to touch the hearts of everyone that reads it. The words mean so much to myself and my family, especially at this time of personal loss. It inspires us to keep moving forward and always remember the love and support we receive even when we do not always realise it is, and has always been there.

In three months, I lost my mom, brother-in-law, and my only son. Footprints came into mind and reading it, gives me comfort and hope. Although life is difficult, I know God is with me and them!
Beautiful poem. I Would like to know who wrote it. Does anyone know?
Odd how she claims to have written this 15 (Fifteen) years AFTER it was originally published. I guarantee that she can’t name the newspaper it was first published in. Nor does she have the receipt for it as it was a MAN who wrote it as a part of a sermon. Shame on all the liars and plagiarists out there!!!
i love this poem a amazing promised of God

I was given this poem on a card 29 years ago in a treatment centre where I had gone for my addiction problems. I felt overwhelmed and sobbed. I am approaching 29 years of sobriety the same age I was then. It really helped ?
My most favorite verse!

I love this poem. Perfect to remind us that God is always with us
I've read this many times and today I discover how much it means to me . I've always loved the Lord and our lady . Beat and uplifting.
The first time I read this poem I was a Muslim and I cried especially when God replied.now that I am a Christian I love it even more, so thank you and my God richly bless you
Thank you for making this lovely poem available to us. How well it expresses the Christian walk, it seems that the longer we are on that road, the more real Jesus becomes. If it appears that someone is getting more than their share of the trials, that soul will be blessed with a greater measure and a deeper insight to the very real love of God. Even so come Lord Jesus. (Rev.22:20)
It makes me cry sometimes
Such beautiful poem
Hi everyone just want to share my thoughts .
My brother " Tony " god bless him , passed away 12/12/98 , 22 years ago yesterday . He was a fantastic husband , father of 2 , brother of 7 3 boys and 4 girls ,and wonderful son , we didn't know the pain he was suffering and he took his own life which has left the whole family extremely greif stricken . Since his death we have now lost our mother and on July 11th this year my close brother David passed away and with the restrictions regarding covid , we couldn't go to his funeral or say our goodbyes as he lived in utah usa . This poem "footprints in the sand " is always
with me in my car as I have a card that is clipped to my sun visor , the poem became very important to the whole family as this poem was my brother"Tony's " favourite and was read out at his and my mother's funerals .I will finish now but I just wanted to say if anyone reading this is feeling pain through depression or anxiety and is thinking of hurting themselves or God forbid ending their life , PLEASE SEEK SOME HELP as the family that you leave behind will be heartbroken forever and we know that's not what you would want to do to you loved ones .
Keep reading footprints God Bless and merry Christmas
32 year's ago, I was told my baby was dying. A friend posted this poem to me. It gave me comfort. Whenever some one becomes, I send this to them.
I was talking about the footprint poem to my children during our devotional time this evening to describe to them how Jesus is always with us and especially in our most difficult times. So I googled foot prints in the sand and found this poem. Thanks so much. Beautiful reminder of God's care. I felt Him carring me after loosing our 14 year old son in 2017. I had peace that passes all human understanding.
